When the monitor was recapped, was the "black level" trimpot replaced? If it was, then try adjusting it. If it wasn't, it could be bad.

There's also a possibility that the video interface card might have a problem.

To be honest, I don't think that this monitor has ever been recapped, certainly not by me. I have no history on the cab it came from. So what is the best way to trouble shoot and is it even worth the trouble or should I simply put the monitor on the shelf for spare parts. I would love to bring it back to life if possible, but don't want to sink a ton of money into it buying new parts. I will check the pots tonight. Any additional suggestions on what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

thanks again,
Dane

It hasn't been recapped? No wonder you're having trouble. I assumed it had been capped. Electrolytic capacitors go bad over the years. That monitor is 29 years old!

LMAO!

Ken, I think I may need a cap kit after reading your last statement.

Hehe so what you are saying is recap this bad boy first eh? Is there a chance that doing so will fix some of the issues I am having. I guess I should have prefaced this entire discussion with the words "Green newbie here" Sorry for my lack of knowledge and thank you for your patience.
