No. It'll either make the picture look worse or better...

We're talking about a jumper between the monitor frame and an AC ground somewhere...

I tried disconnecting the EG and things got ugly... I started getting bright lines going across the screed. from top to bottom. lony way

I did notice something.. Looking at my jamma pinouts it appears that the there is only a verticle sync. So I just hooked up the vertical and no change.

I am getting 5.1 volts at the pcb with no ac riding.

When there is no signal the screen looks normal, but as soon as it gets a signal the diagonal lines appear...

I am about ready to take it to a professional...

The wire from the JAMMA harness is composite sync, not vertical. it should be connected to the negative sync pins on the monitor.

Did you try pushing the button?

Default problem solved... wasted day.. New smaller problem

I talked to a local monitor expert. After eliminating everything it was something simple.

I was trying to make it neat. I zip tied some things the sync wires together. I took them off. I also noticed a stay peice of soder which I removed and I giggled the wires between the harness and monitor.

So after trying everything above... It all boils down to moving a few wires.

Okay so now the sync issue or ground issue or WETFIW is solved, I am getting what I believe is magnetic interference from the PS causing the side of the screen to appear greenish. If I open the cocktail cab a little the problem goes away.

I have a old shroud ... do you think putting that on will cure the interference?

Default Not quite fixed.

The problem is at the connection on the chasis. I was able to keep a little tension on the wires when repositioning them and got a good picture.

It also brightened up alot when I got a good picture.

So did I do a crappy job splicing wires, is there a cold soder joint on the chasis? Can molex connectors be crap right from the box?

Now that this is narrowed down .. anyone have any experience with a problem like this.

Perhaps the female half of the connector in your video harness in the cabinet has bad crimps on the terminals? Or the terminals themselves have tarnished?

Default Problem solved?

Seems weird but I replaced the power supply on a hunch from a friend. I also jacked up the voltage to 5.3 Volts and I have had no problems.

Everything here was entirely new....(cheap chinese equipment) other than the cabinet.

I don't understand how switching one PS out for another could make a difference.. but it did.

I also dont understand why when I was pulling on the harness it made any difference...

So... I guess the key to this hobby is hit it with a sludge hammer?

Thanks to everyone that helped me solve this problem... Now ...

There is a slight humm coming from the speaker... I doubt I can fix it, but I know the speaker is 8 ohms (pacman factory) I also believe that the 48 in 1 board requires a 8 ohm speaker. So anyone have any experience with this. I will post it in the other repair section.
